The Visual Arts Program at Northern Kentucky University offers a unique and challenging opportunity for aspiring artists and designers who seek professional training in the arts. All disciplines of study share a fundamental commitment to the premise that for the next generation of creative artists and educators to face the challenges of the 21st century they must be equipped with the creative and intellectual tools to succeed. The average advanced studio class has a 13:1 student to faculty ratio.

Prospective Students - SHADOW PROGRAM

The Visual Arts Program offers a shadow experience for prospective students who are interested in studying one of our many Visual Arts or Design Degrees. Shadow experiences usually take at least one week to arrange, take place Monday-Thursday between 9am and 9pm, and are set up on an individual basis according to each prospective student’s degree interests. A shadow may attend classes during fall, spring or summer semesters, but dates and times of specific classes may vary.

A high school student, adult learner, or possible transfer student will be paired with a current student majoring in the Visual Arts Program, attend classes, and have lunch in the Student Union on campus.  Lunch and parking are provided.  Please contact Candice van Loveren Geis at vanloverec1@nku.edu or 859-572-1521 to arrange for your personalized experience!
