The mission of the program is to help students use their experience in printmaking to learn more about themselves, how they create and how they can make creating art a permanent part of their lives. Students will be expected to develop skill in the articulation and presentation of ideas and to develop the ability to speak clearly about their own art and the art of others.
The print program graduates majors who are familiar with all the areas of fine art printmaking: woodcut, linocut, intaglio, lithography, monotype, screen printing, and collagraphy.
The discipline of printmaking requires that the student understand the breakdown of an image into it's components of line, surface, color, texture, and format. Developing proper comprehension allows the student and the teacher to identify difficulties and deficiencies in either technique or imagery.
