Academic Advising

Advisors meet regularly with chemistry majors to assist them in planning class schedules that will fulfill the degree requirements. These conferences help minimize confusion during the education process and a possible delayed graduation if degree requirements are not fulfilled.

The final responsibility for fulfilling university requirements still rests with the students. Before each advising session, a student should:

  • Review their general studies and degree checklists to see what courses they need for graduation

  • Check the current schedule of classes for availability

  • Create a mock schedule with the name and course number of each class and have at least two or three
    back-up classes

In addition to helping with class schedules, advisors can help students find information on financial aid, scholarships, tutoring and other academic pursuits.
