History & Geography
Understanding People and Places
Our students and faculty work together to understand the world around us, our places in it, and how we can make it a better place for all.
History provides insights into significant events that shaped society and had a lasting impact on the human condition. While some students become professional historians, others find careers in education, government, law, business, and more.
Geography deals with the impact people have on the world's environment. It's a liberal arts degree that can open the door to careers in park management, urban planning, meteorology and medicine.
Black Studies and Women's and Gender Studies offer more specific understandings of the world and its inhabitants, especially focused on social justice and forces of change.
