Beliefs Shape Our Lives
The study of philosophy helps students deepen their understanding of themselves and society as well as widen their perspective on the beliefs and values of others.
Our undergraduate programs offer a Philosophy major along with minors in Philosophy, Applied Philosophy and Religious Studies.
Philosophy is considered a good major for students interested in business, education, government, the non-profit sector, technical writing, the health professions (administrators or practitioners), ethics consulting, the law or theology because our courses promote the ability to:
- Think and communicate clearly
- Organize ideas and issues
- Articulate and solve problems
- Assess the pros and cons of issues
- Analyze complex data
A number of Philosophy (PHI) and Religious Studies (REL) courses satisfy general education requirements.
