World Languages and Literatures

If you're interested in learning the language and exploring the culture of other countries, we have a wide range of choices for you.

The Department of World Languages and Literatures offers courses in 10 languages with Bachelor of Arts degrees available in French, German and Spanish and minors available in Chinese Studies and Japanese Language and Culture.

Our list of language courses includes:

Arabic           Chinese          French            German          Italian

Japanese      Korean           Latin               Russian          Spanish   

Students who complete a major in a language with teaching certification will
be in high demand for jobs in education.

Learning a language can also enhance opportunities in other professions.
Companies based in the U.S. are doing business with foreign customers
in what has become a worldwide economy.

Department move.

World Languages and Literatures is now located on the fourth floor of the Mathematics, Education, and Psychology Center (MP 475).   

Conversation Hours

Kaffeestunde, the German conversation hour, will meet in MEP 473, from 3:30 to 4:30 on Wednesdays, beginning August 31.

Les Causeries, the French conversation hour, will meet in MEP 473, from 2:00 to 3:00 on the following Mondays: September 12 & 26, October 10 & 31, November 14 & 28.

Japanese Language Conversation Table is sponsored by the Japan-America Society of Greater Cincinnati, the University of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky University.  Meets at Matsuya Japanese Restaurant, (7149 Manderlay Dr., Florence, KY) from 6:00-8:30, the third Tuesday of every month.
